"Not always," she points out.

"How do you know before we get to this point?"

"I can just tell with you." A perk of having known her so long. Also probably a side effect of having never truly pissed her off.

"Well, and you still have your nose," she adds, straight-faced.

He grins. Okay and that. It's a clear sign. "What is the most angry I've ever made you?"

She hums thoughtfully.

"You remember two summers ago, when you kept talking Siddiq into staying just one week longer?" They hadn't been talking for about a year before that, and Rosita had shown up and dragged him back to Alexandria.

"I was sure you were angling to keep him permanently."

"Well." A pause. "Not permanently, we all needed a doctor. But I like him. It was nice having someone around who agreed with most of my ideas for a change."

"Yes, but I still wanted to pull your teeth out through your nose," she says.

But she can also admit: "It wasn't all you. There was a lot of shit going on. A section of wall we were fixing had collapsed and killed three people, half our corn crop had parasites and we were working to save the rest, and Red had a heart attack in his sleep and bit Tyson and Mo before we knew it."

"I'm glad it wasn't all me. I don't want to piss people off. You, especially." He nudges her leg playfully.

"Yeah," she heaves an exaggerated sigh: "I'd hate to ruin your good looks."

She folds her arms across herself and curls closer, eyes closed.

"This is nice."

"I'd hate that too. I skate by on these looks," he jokes, waving a hand over his face.

"I'm going to like having you so close by. I liked my old apartment but I felt so disconnected from everyone. I feel more at home here."

"Good," she says, smiling. She means it.

"You can technically keep both, I think. Jacob had this place and the Manor when he was with Vrenille. But I wanted you to have this option."

He shakes his head. "I can't afford rent on two places and I won't ask Drake to foot the bill. I'll be happy out here."

"Alright," she agrees, unwilling to push on this point, especially since he's staying where she'd prefer he did.

She rests her temple on his shoulder, eyes still closed.

"I still have a list for Creekside, but - I want to at least tint those fucking windows."

"The windows are a problem. Maybe I can get someone to magic them into being bullet proof." It's something, at least. He's sure it can be done.

"And one way," she agrees, then remembers Vrenille's invisible gun.

"Or maybe spelled to look like solid walls. All three."

"So I can still look out?" He loves the view, dangerous as it is. "Yeah I like that. You should decorate it for me."

She's already picking a lot of his wardrobe.
